Rapid Chilling Machine Dubbed ‘Reverse Microwave’
In this day and age, where time is money, people are constantly searching for ways to get things done faster. Technology is driven by efficiency. Students taking online culinary courses will tell you how important it is to have a fast connection to the Internet. Now, the world has been given a way to rapidly chill your beer.
The company V-Tex, based in the U.K., has found a way to chill a bottle of beer to 40 degrees Fahrenheit in just 40 seconds. Although misleadingly dubbed a “reverse microwave” (microwaves are not used in this technology), the machine does quickly cool your beverage by circulating near freezing water around the surface of your bottle. What is different in the beer chiller is the rotating platform on which the bottle spins. This motion creates a liquid vortex within the bottle that increases the rate of heat transfer.
The product is still in development, but could have a future in the commercial industry outside of the liquor business. Companies and restaurants can save money by using this technology instead of massive refrigeration containers.
