Famed golfer to open first restaurant
If you’re currently enrolled in online culinary school or have completed a degree in the culinary arts, then you probably recognize that there’s far more to opening a successful restaurant than name brand recognition. Nonetheless, the steady stream of restaurant ventures being undertaken by celebrities is as strong as ever. In fact, CBS Sports has reported that representatives of Tiger Woods have announced the famous golfer has plans to open a restaurant in Jupiter, Florida as soon as January 2015.
According to The Palm Beach Post, the restaurant will be part of a brand new commercial complex coming to the town called Harbourside Place. The center, which is estimated to cost upwards of $150 million when it is completed, is slated to hold a water-taxi stop, a marina for both private and public use, parking for nearly 1000 cars, a luxury hotel and an outdoor amphitheater that will seat over 600. Sitting on more than 10 acres of land, the complex is being erected as part of an investment by Allied Capital & Development of South Florida.
While details regarding Woods’ restaurant are still largely speculative, it has been confirmed that the eatery will occupy 5,900 square feet in the development and will boast a private valet as well as outdoor seating near the marina. It has also been announced that the establishment will be known as The Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club.
Woods is one of the most prolific golfers to ever set foot across eighteen holes. Over the course of an illustrious career he has accrued 14 major titles, establishing his legacy with the likes of Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. Speculation will surely follow regarding whether or not his venture into the culinary world represents a move away from golf.
