Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri To Enter The Wine Business
Although he never attended a culinary academy, celebrity chef Guy Fieri landed his own shows on the Food Network and is looking to expand his empire by getting into the wine business. If the plans come to fruition, Fieri announced that he plans to call his label “Hunt and Ryde” after his sons Hunter and Ryder.
“Ever since I moved to Sonoma County and saw all this incredible environment of wine, from the agricultural side of it to the business side of it, to the community side of it… I’ve just been in awe,” Fieri told the Press Democrat. “I think it will be pretty small at the current stage that it’s in. But if we’re making wine and someone’s drinking it and enjoying it, then it’s a success.”
Fieri has already purchased a vineyard, and in 2012, sold his first crop of grapes to Jackson Family Wines and the Williams Selyem winery. There is a three-bedroom home on the property, which Fieri hopes to renovate into a tasting room. The chef is working with a vineyard management company to keep everything under code and has also initiated organic farming methods on his land.
