The chevron design is an inverted “V” design, which is a classic design in family crests and a popular design in fabrics and fashion. In this video, Escoffier Online’s Chef Susie Wolak will demonstrate the chevron design by applying the technique to a simple butter cream cake.

When creating the chevron design in your online pastry course it is usually done with several different colors of butter cream icing on the exterior of a cake. Not only can the chevron design be seen on the outside of cakes, but is also seen on the interior, by simply aligning different colored cake layers to form the chevron pattern. The use of the chevron design is eye-catching and a great way to combined complimentary flavors.
