Giada De Laurentiis Takes On The Las Vegas Food Scene
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is taking her brand to the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip for the very first time. Online culinary school students know her as the author of such cookbooks as “Everyday Italian,” “Everyday Pasta” and “Giada’s Family Dinners,” and she is teaming up with Ganesvoort Resorts and Caesars Entertainment to provide a twist on Italian cuisine that the strip has not yet seen. Known for mixing up traditional Italian cooking with a Californian sense of style and flair, De Laurentiis and her partners believe that the venture has the potential to be a local favorite. Despite facing tough competition, she knows her signature dishes and home-like vibe will keep patrons enchanted and coming back for more.
“I want to bring what people will expect from me, my Italian food with a California spin,” she told USA Today. “The visual will be clean lines that you will find in a modern Milan osteria rather than the classic rustic Italian feel that people have come to know and love.”
The venue is something that De Laurentiis has dreamed of ever since she was a child. The resort and restaurant boasts an al fresco dining area, and since it is located on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo, it comes with a spectacular view of all the best sights and sounds the city can offer, including spectacular seats to see the dancing fountains of the Bellagio. You might even catch a glimpse of the red mountains of Vegas with the right weather conditions. Not one to jump into the hard-nosed business of running a restaurant in one of the most competitive locations in the world, De Laurentiis took her time choosing the location and believed that the timing was right to open up her own dining establishment.
“You can’t beat the view that we’re going to have,” she told USA Today. “I wanted a space in the sense that I could do whatever I wanted in the space. It wasn’t just about giving it a fresh coat of paint or new carpeting, but I actually designed the restaurant of my dreams.”
Giada is a trained culinary chef who started off her career in Los Angeles restaurants before being contacted by the Food Network and Food and Wine Magazine in 2002. Soon after she achieved national exposure through her Emmy-award winning daytime cooking show, “Everyday Italian.”
