The Cronut Creator Is At It Again
Being the creator of something that takes the country by storm doesn’t always point to a long career in the spotlight. Athletes, musicians and actors have all fallen into the trope of becoming an overnight celebrity only to fade out of the spotlight and forever be remembered as a one-hit-wonder. Culinary academy students who have dreams of being known for their creations will want to watch Chef Dominque Ansel, though, because he doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. With cronuts only out of the news for a short month, Ansel has just debuted his latest baking & pastry arts creation – the Magic Soufflé.
The Magic Soufflé consists of a Grand Marnier chocolate soufflé that rests within an orange blossom brioche. Ansel insists that the recipe of the Magic Soufflé will be difficult to discover through tinkering with ingredients, unlike how pastry chefs were eventually able to solve the mystery of the cronut recipe. Will the Magic Soufflé be as popular as the cronut? It has a lot to live up to, but mashup desserts are pretty popular nowadays. New Yorkers can get their hands on this sweet treat September 6, but the rest of the US will have to patiently await for the first round of imitation Magic Soufflés.
