Baking and cooking expertise is expected from those cooking for the president of the United States. The food served on Air Force One is distinctly geared towards the president’s tastes. According to The New York Times, American fare is typically served onboard flights. Those enrolled in online cooking courses should take note of the specialty burgers and treats which are found both in the White House and on Air Force One, whether that food includes aioli sauces or fresh produce.
Michelle Obama has taken part in influencing the menus and food served at the White House. Her White House kitchen garden, planted in 2009, is a large part of her Let’s Move! program for nutritional education, with which students of online culinary arts programs will be familiar. It is unclear whether President Obama has been taking her advice, joking in his press conference to honor the White House Pastry Chef that his cholesterol has increased as a side effect of too-good pie.
President Obama is not alone in his unhealthy cravings. The New York Times wrote that many former presidents have been known for their unhealthy cravings. President Bill Clinton preferred ball-park food. The White House passes along food regulations and food recommendations, but the chefs employed on Air Force One and in the White House are there to please, and to feed.
